About the Committee
The Site Plan Review Criteria for the City of Andover was the basis for the formation of the Site Plan Review Committee, and the creation of appearance standards for the development of properties other than single family residences in the City of Andover. The Site Plan Review Committee reviews the following seven design elements to ensure the compatibility of a project to its surroundings and lasting quality of the construction:
  • Relationship of buildings to site (building placement, access, pedestrian movement, parking, building scale and interrelationships)
  • Relationship to adjoining areas (styles, landscape, transitions, harmony)
  • Landscape and site treatment (compatibility with existing patterns, hardscape elements, plant types and sizes, exterior lighting)
  • Building design (design quality, relationship to surroundings, scale, materials, colors, sightlines)
  • Signs (size, scale, location, materials, graphic elements, lighting)
  • Miscellaneous structures and street hardware (compatibility, scale, materials, color, lighting, maintenance)
  • Maintenance planning and design factors (quality of material, durability, cleaning)
