The Patrol section is responsible for the daily patrol of the City of Andover, including responding to Calls for Service, traffic enforcement and education, accident investigation, and criminal and traffic investigations.
Also in the Patrol section is Andover’s Animal Control and Code Compliance Officer.
The Patrol section works in four Watches and each Watch is supervised by the Watch Commander. Overall supervision of the Patrol section rests with the Patrol Commander.

Andover Emergency Communications is responsible for receiving all Calls For Service from the public, both 911 calls and administrative calls, and for radio communications with all Andover Police Department members. Andover Emergency Communications also provides dispatching service for Andover Fire & Rescue.
In addition to Emergency Communications, Communications Officers are responsible for all case management and reports for the Andover Police Department, including Records Management, data entry, copies for the public, courts, insurance companies, and attorneys.
Emergency Communications is supervised by the Communications Supervisor and overall responsibility rests with the Director of Communications.

Andover Municipal Court is not a section of the Andover Police Department, but is housed in the same building.
Andover Municipal Court is responsible for all aspects of court management of subjects charged with infractions or misdemeanors in Municipal Court.
Andover Municipal Court is supervised by the Municipal Judge and Chief of Police. Andover Municipal Court consists of the Court Clerk and Assistant Court Clerk.
