2009 Active Shooter Exercise

| On March 6, 2009, the Andover Police Department participated in an “Active Shooter” exercise in cooperation with the Butler Community College and the USD-385 Andover School District, and also involved the Andover Fire Department, Butler County EMS, Butler County Emergency Management and Andover E-911. Additional departments that provided assistance and support included the Rose Hill Police Department, Augusta Police Department, Wichita State University Police Department and the KBI. |

This exercise, 6-months in the planning stage, was designed to allow the Andover Police Department, the Andover School District and the Butler Community College to evaluate their response to a violent school incident, followed with a review of the exercise to determine how they could improve and be better prepared in the future, should they ever experience a real such incident.
