Summer Concerts in the Park a Hit!
Concert In the park Logo
For the 4th year in a row, the Andover Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and BOB-FM brought a ROCKIN Concert to Central Park! In 2013, Richard Marx thrilled approximately 4,500 fans and in 2014 the Little River Band and Natalie Stovall and the Drive entertained nearly three times that many fans! In 2015 Diamond Rio and Restless Heart entertained 16,000-18,000. In 2016 the CVB began charging for the concert and despite a thunderstorm, on June 18, Rick Springfield performed with special guests Night Ranger and The Romantics in front of 7,000-10,000 dedicated fans. Check out aerial footage of the 2016 concert here.

To see reports from the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism about the economic impact of the 2015 and 2014 events, click here. To see a similar report based on a model developed by the Wichita State University Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR), click here. While the numbers provided by CEDBR are more conservative, the same conclusion can be reached: the concert makes a positive economic impact to the City of Andover. Finally, official sales tax receipts are also in from the State for June 2015. The City of Andover had a $24,600 increase from June 2014. The larger 2015 concert is likely a variable in that increase.

The summer concerts in the park stemmed from the desire of the Andover CVB to build a permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Park. The CVB decided in late 2012 the best way to gauge interest in the project would be to host free summer concerts.  THANK YOU for supporting outdoor music and festivals in Andover Central Park!

Amphitheater Project
The Andover CVB recommends the Andover City Council approve a project to build an amphitheater in Central Park, as soon as financing can be determined. Currently Rice Foster Associates is working on Phase III of a Feasibility Study.  Below are links to the first two phases of the report:
