We Heard You
Andover City Council and staff members are devoted to ensuring a bright future for our community.  In reviewing the 2015 capital improvement budget, the Council decided the time had come to  ask the citizenry for a sales tax increase. A question for a 1 cent sales tax was on the November 2014 ballot and was defeated by 221 votes.

Some of the feedback received by Council members and staff included a disapproval for a sales tax without a sunset date. Additionally some did not care for a sales tax for future, unknown capital improvement projects. Taking that feedback into consideration, the City Council went back to the drawing board and came to a consensus on the three most important needs of the community. Those items are a fire department ladder truck, restrooms for Central Park and a Street Maintenance Shop. To fund these important projects, the City Council is putting a 3/4 of a cent sales tax question  on the 4/7/15 ballot for Andover residents. This sales tax will sunset in five years or when enough revenue is collected for the three projects, whichever comes first.
