Captain Joseph Schroeder joined Andover Police Department in August 2017 as an Accreditation Manager and was promoted to the rank of Patrol Captain on October 8, 2017. Captain Schroeder is a Rose Hill resident who retired from the Wichita Police Department in June of 2017 after serving for over 28 years. While on the Wichita PD, he served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. His assignments included investigating both property crimes and violent crimes as well as several command assignments in Patrol, Investigations and Department Administration.
Captain Schroeder will assume the responsibility as the Operations Commander, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the department’s Patrol and Investigations Sections, which currently includes the supervision of six Lieutenants, two Detectives, four Patrol Sergeants and eight Patrol Officers
Captain Schroeder is an Air Force veteran with more than 22 years of service on both active duty and in the Kansas Air National Guard where he is a Chief Master Sergeant (E-9) serving as a Group Superintendent with the 184th Intelligence Wing at McConnell AFB. Captain Schroeder also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Southwestern College.
