Sports/Recreation for Adults

Pickleball
The Andover Recreation Department hosts recreational/open play games of Pickleball.  All games are played at the Andover Community Center (ACC) in the 13th Street Sports Park. Don't know what Pickleball is? It combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and is played on a court the same size as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net but two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a whiffle ball. If you have questions about Pickleball, call the Recreation Director at 733-1303x461.

Playing Level Guidelines
Recreation – Recreation time is for new players or those who do not feel comfortable playing at the kitchen line or running back for lob shots. If you are a more skilled player attending recreation times then please be considerate with how hard you hit the ball (especially on serves).
Open – Open time is for players who return serves consistently and move to the kitchen line when play allows. These players will also make attempts to return lob shots.
Competitive – Competitive time is for those who would rate themselves as a 3.5 and over.

The pickleball self-rating descriptions are located on the sign in table.

***Please note that all ratings are self-imposed. Players are welcome to play in the division that they feel like they belong. If players are told to leave due to their skill level then they can report this to the Andover Recreation Department at 316-733-1303 ext 461 or scarey@andoverks.com.*
