Hot Dog & Watermelon Eating Contests

Hotdog eating contest begins at 2 p.m. and watermelon eating contest begins at 2:30 p.m. located in front of the Capitol Federal Amphitheater. 

Button is required to participate, no registration required. Waiver will be signed prior to event. 


Hot Dog Eating Contest Rules and Regulations

 

  1. The contest is open to all ages.
  2. All contestants must have a Festival Button and be checked in with a waiver completed at least 30 minutes prior to the contest.
  3. Whoever eats the largest number of hot dogs with buns in five minutes is the winner.
  4. Water will be provided to all contestants. It is the only beverage provided.
  5. Each contestant will be given five hot dogs at a time.
  6. Mustard and ketchup will be provided. 
  7. Any complete hot dog in the competitor’s mouth at the whistle counts toward the final tally.
  8. The hot dogs/buns must “stay down” for the duration of the contest, and for five minutes afterward.
  9. Dunking, squashing or separating the hot dog and bun is allowed. 
  10. Contestants may not touch the hot dogs or buns before time starts. 
  11. In case of any controversy, the judges have the final say.


Watermelon Eating Contest Rules and Regulations

  1. The contest is open to ages 5-12. 
  2. All contestants must be registered, have a Festival Button and be checked in at least 30 minutes prior to the contest. 
  3. Whoever eats the most watermelon in five minutes is the winner. 
  4. Water will be provided to all contestants. It is the only beverage provided. 
  5. Each contestant will receive a bowl of watermelon pieces as each bowl is emptied until contest time is ended by the whistle. 
  6. Any watermelon in the competitor’s mouth at the whistle counts toward the final tally. 
  7. The watermelon must “stay down” for the duration of the contest, and for five minutes afterward. 
  8. Contestants may not touch the watermelon before time starts. 
  9. In case of any controversy, the judges have the final say.
