Site Plan Review Committee

OVERVIEW

A 6-member Site Plan Review Committee is nominated by the Mayor and approved by the Governing Body to serve staggered three-year terms.  A maximum of three members may reside outside the City of Andover Planning Area; all other members must reside inside the City limits.  Members must have experience and/or education in such fields as architectural design, landscaping, construction, traffic control, urban planning, historical preservation, public safety, civil engineering, local business ownership or other similar backgrounds.  The Committee's charge is to review nonresidential projects for compliance with the Site Plan Review Standards.  The purpose and intent of site plan approval is to:

  • Maintain a pleasant and visually appealing community appearance
  • Promote public health and safety
  • Enhance and/or preserve property values, and protect and support the long-term economic well-being of the City
  • Encourage compatible arrangements of building, off-street parking, lighting, signs, landscaping, screening, ingress and egress, and drainage elements on development sites
  • Control the aesthetics of redevelopment or new development as provided for in K.S.A. 12-755(a)(4)

MEETINGS

The Andover Site Plan Review Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Andover Central Park Lodge, 1609 E. Central Ave., at 6:00pm.
