- What is still available to rent at the park?
Only the Andover Community Center will be available to rent, no shelters are available during construction.
- Will the Red Bud Trail be open? What else will be available during the project?
Redbud Trail, ACC, and the ACC playground will all remain open and available for use.
- Will baseball/softball games be played at the park?
Games will not be played at 13th after May 20.
The 2023 season will wrap up using USD 385, and Park City facilities. Baseball/Softball games will be played again at 13th Park in the summer of 2024.
- Will there be room for a full size basketball court?
Additional basketball court capacity will be addressed in Phase 3 along with the new community center building.
- Where can I find regularly posted updates on the progress?
We will be posting to our Parks and Recreation Facebook page at least on a monthly basis, if not more. We encourage you to follow HERE.
- Will there be pickleball courts?
The approved design has four outdoor pickleball courts. There will also be additional pickleball capacity in Phase 3 with the new community center building.
- What are the three Phases?
Phase 1 includes 5 new ball diamonds, a new concession stand/restroom building, a new 240-space parking lot, a new playground with adjacent picnic shelter north of the parking lot, a new basketball court, sand volleyball court, the conversion of large areas of turf grass to native grass meadow, and a new network of multi-modal trails that take advantage of the site's natural amenities and setting.
Phase 2 includes a large destination playground, destination splash park, pickleball complex, a picnic shelter, and a large turf field referred to as the Great Lawn.
Phase 3 will be starting the design process later this year and will include the conversion of more turf areas to native grass meadow, and the construction of a brand new Andover Community Center. The existing Andover Community Center would be converted into a new maintenance shop and materials yard.
- Will there still be a full-size baseball field for 14U and up?
One of the fields is designed for future size expansion. This is the most northeast field in the final design. The current and forecasted needs (at the recreation baseball level) for full size baseball fields are being met by the USD 385 fields that the City has a usage agreement with.
- Will there still be a playground?
Yes, there will be a playground with a significant upgrade. There will be a small play structure among the interior of the ball diamonds for your children to use while siblings are playing baseball, etc.
- Where can I find information about the construction and updates?
City website, social media pages will have project updates similar to the Fire Station updates.
