159th St Improvements Project 008 N-0692-01 US-54/400 to Central Ave

Project 008 N-0692-01 includes the construction of a three-lane curb and gutter section concrete roadway with underground storm sewers and concrete sidewalks on 159th St. East from Willowbrook St to Central Ave.

Work began on Phase 1 of the project on January 9, 2023 with the closing of northbound traffic between Willowbrook St. and Central Ave. for tree removal, grading, and construction of a new waterline, storm sewers, and concrete pavement on the west side of the project. Some public utility relocation work is also ongoing.

Southbound only traffic will be maintained throughout the project, which is expected to be completed late in 2023. Local access to driveways and streets will be maintained during the project. Temporary gang mailboxes will be installed for those with mailboxes disturbed by construction.

Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed in June of 2023 when southbound only traffic will be moved to the newly constructed pavement while work on Phase 2 on the east side of the project is completed.
