We know you many of you are wondering, what's going on with the Andover Municipal Golf course? Below is a summary of events that have occurred thus far.
**No decision has been made regarding the future use of the land, nor will one be made without FIRST seeking the public's input.**
We'll be posting more information about the public input meeting that will be on December 9th, soon!
March 2019 - Current course operators Next Level, LLC, gave notice stating they were no longer interested in running the golf course.
July 2019 - The City extended the term of the contract with Next Level, LLC to December 31, 2019.
August, 2019 - The City sent out a Request for Proposal for Golf Course Management with a due date of September 30, 2019. Only 1 outside agency responded, Oaks Golf, LLC from Lawrence, KS.
October 10th - Park Planning Committee met to discuss the proposal as well as the option of the course being ran by the City or being changed over to a City park, potentially utilizing a portion of the space for disc golf. All individuals present agreed it was necessary to reach out to the nearby residents should the proposed use of the land change.
October 29th - At the Council Workshop, Council supported the direction of the Park Planning Committee and requested City Staff to enter into an agreement with Foster Design Associates, LLC to master plan the 57 acres as parkland, allowing staff and the governing body to have visuals and better information when approaching neighbors and stakeholders regarding possible land use changes.
November 12th - City council Meeting, Council approved agreement with Foster Design Associates, LLC. The agreement includes two (2) Input meetings with neighborhood, plus two (2) additional meetings to be used at the City's discretion to get more public input.
December 9th - 6pm - 8pm - First Public Input meeting will be held at Andover Central High School auditorium regarding the future of the Municipal Golf Course.
